Four years later, many changes for Patriots, Giants
- Of the 106 players who were on the active rosters for the Giants and Patriots in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, 2008, only 23 are still employed with the same team today.
New banner art by Cameron K. Lewis at Capital New York. “I aimed to show the determination of the Jets against the oppressive and intimidating Steelers defense,” Cameron wrote in an email.
A few brokenhearted emails were exchanged in the late hour last night, after the Steelers defeated the Jets. Capital co-founder Josh Benson had this to say about Cameron’s illustration, and last night’s loss against Pittsburgh:
That particular image is inspired by the events of last night, but is drawn from a particular play that happened the last time the Jets went to Pittsburgh (and won), on Dec. 19. Cameron illustrates the prevailing dynamic of last night’s loss: The Jets, after putting themselves in a 24-0 hole, pressed and pressed and pressed the (very good) Steelers defense right up until time ran out. Jerricho Cotchery, the guy with the ball here, is quiet, and a total trouper, and tough as anything. It’s actually guys like him who made the Jets great this year, notwithstanding all the bluster coming from the coach.
