1984: My date with Steve Jobs | by Nancy Butkus
Then, he asked me back to his room (a penthouse suite at the Helmsley Palace) where he knelt down before a boxy computer and led me through it.
He went on and on about it and I had no idea what he was talking about, completely mystified by his ardor and actually, a little miffed by his ignoring me for this box.
I met Steve Jobs while I worked at Gizmodo. He was always a gentleman. Steve liked me and he liked Gizmodo. And I liked him back. Some of my friends who I used to work with at Gizmodo refer to those days as the Good Old Days. That is because those were the days before it all went to shit. That was before we got the iPhone 4 prototype.Beautiful sad and full of regret.
